Nenagh LTC has won the 2015 Grade 3 Mens Doubles Munster Winter League. The team, which defeated Limerick Lawn in the final, was Donal Flannery (Capt), Michael Hackett, Chris Collins and Kieran McSherry. Well done indeed to the team which combined a potent mix of veteran experience and relative youth in playing excellent tennis all Winter en route to the title.
The final was played along with 13 other finals of varying grades as part of an extensive finals day programme at St Anne’s Waterford and Tramore Tennis Clubs.
Hard luck to the Nenagh Grade 2 Mixed team who unfortunately came up against a strong Cashel outfit and were defeated in their final, but not without a gallant effort. The Nenagh team was Emma Mulqueen (Capt), Caroline White, James Morris, Matty Ryan.
Frances Cleary and Michael Molloy have won the 2015 Dolores Cahalan Cup at Nenagh LTC. They overcame the challenge of Marie Coffey and Robert Armitage in the final which was played on Saturday 11th April and followed by a pleasant and enjoyable night in the club.
It was an especially pleasing personal success for both Frances and Mike. Frances was a personal friend and regular playing of Dolores, while Michael, husband of Eileen, is of course a brother in law of Dolores.
Anne Marie Darcy took a break from her role as Club President and partnered Agris Strods to win the Joe Doran Cup for 2015. Anne Marie and Agris got the better of a Jennifer McKenna and Nick Flannery in the final which took place along with the Dolores Cahalan Cup final on Saturday 11th April. This was Anne Marie’s second time winning this cup. Michael Doran, son of Joe Doran, attended the finals and made the presentation of cup and prizes.

Youghalarra NS schools team got through to Munster Quarter Final with a 3-1 victory away to Whitechurch in Cork. All are Nenagh LTC members, Abbey Sharkey, Claire McGrath, Emily O’Dwyer and Anna O’Keeffe. Well done girls we’re proud of you!
Lena O’Connor endured up to 18 months out of tennis with serious knee injuries, but over the past few months has been gradually re-introducing herself to on court action and to again demonstrate full expression of her considerable tennis prowess. This she displayed at the prestigious Munster Veterans Championships at Sunday’s Well recently when she won the Ladies O.35 Singles title and then joined Deirdre McSherry to take the equivalent ladies doubles title. Well done ladies. Meanwhile we also salute Gail O’Meara who was also to the fore, finishing as runner-up in the ladies O.50 singles and being pipped in the O.50 doubles semi-final (with M Lee) by eventual winners C Creed/M Duffy.
