Nenagh’s  Senior Cup Team To Be Honoured

The Nenagh team (Frank O’Keeffe, Robert Carkill, Anne-Marie Darcy and Lena O’Connor) which won the Munster Senior Cup for the first time last October will honoured at the Nenagh Guardian Sport Awards at a lavish awards function at the Nenagh Abbey Court Hotel on this Friday night.

The night will be a ‘who’s who’ of successful Tipperary sports teams and individuals during 2016 and the club is very proud to be part of what should be a most enjoyable night.

Well known sports journalist and broadcaster Damien Lawlor will be MC and the special guest will be Micheal O’Muircheartaigh, while local Athletics stalwart Sean Naughton will receive the Hall of Fame Award.

Munster Winter League Update

The temperature in Melbourne hit 41C at the Australian Open last week and players and ball girls/boys collapsed with the heat.  The thermometer in Nenagh was considerably below that, and although we had blue skies and bright sunshine on Sunday, the air was decidedly chilly.  Nenagh teams however continued to set a hot pace in the Munster Winter League and as the play-offs approach five Nenagh teams have qualified.

Following weekend results, Nenagh’s Gr 4 Mens teams (‘A’ team of Michael Kennedy, Agris Strods, Michael Gilmartin and Damien Egan) and (‘B’ team of Raimonds Zarinsh, Dara Revins, Dan Grey, Conor O’Meara) have qualified for the play-offs, as have the Gr 4 Ladies ‘A’ team (Pauline Ryan, Amanda Hayes, Sally McGrath and Kate Heduan).

Likewise the Gr 5 Ladies ‘A’ team (Richelle Treacy, Lena Grace, Eimear Gleeson and Kate McKenna) and the Gr 6 Ladies (Emma Kearns, Jennifer Lynch, Ciara Cairns, Therese Brophy) are into the play-offs.

Almost all other Nenagh teams however are still in contention and fixtures over the next few weeks will certainly see a number of them advance to the play-offs.

Open Nights For Tennis

Nenagh LTC will be hosting a series of open nights commencing on Mon night next 30th January.  These nights present an ideal opportunity for anyone who wishes to try their hands at the time of tennis, or indeed for former players who feel they might be interested to returning to play.
