Frank O’Keeffe Captains Irish Tennis Team

Frank O’Keeffe is in Antalya, Turkey this week playing for Ireland in the ITF Young Seniors World Team Championships.   These championships cater for international teams in the 35+, 40+ and 45+ age groups with all of the top tennis nations involved.

In an additional honor, Frank has been nominated as captain of 35+ Irish team.  His fellow Ireland team mates will be Gary Kilduff and Cormac Jennings from Leinster and Stuart McQitty from Ulster. All in Nenagh and local tennis circles wish Frank the best of luck.

Winter League Update

Nenagh will have 2 teams in the Munster Winter League finals on Sunday 12th April.  Nenagh will contest the Gr 2 Mixed final.  This team, which defeated Bandon 3/2 over the weekend, is Emma Mulqueen, Caroline White, James Morris and Matthew Ryan.

Nenagh will also feature the Mens Gr 3 final, with Donal Flannery, Chris Collins, Michael Hackett and Kieran McSherry.

Hard luck to the Nenagh Gr 6 Mixed team which lost out to a strong Mitchelstown in the semi-final on Saturday last.  The team was Lisa Hogan, Marie Coffey, Brian McGrath and Pat O’Meara.

Meanwhile, Puckane remain in contention for a finals place.  They will play Tramore in the semi-final.  Puckane team is George Hayes, Mike O’Brien, Melissa Kenny and Angela O’Dwyer.

Cleary’s Spring Doubles Finals

Semi-Final matches are scheduled for Friday evening with the Finals ion Saturday Night – it’s the first domestic competition of the year so we hope to see you all on Saturday night!

Breo Jewellers Junior Spring Doubles

All details (sections, contacts nos, etc) are on the board and players have until Saturday 18th April to complete their league matches.  The finals are on the following day, Sunday 19th April.

Beginners Nights

The club will be holding it’s now annual series of Beginners’ Nights over the next couple of weeks.   These nights are for anyone wishing to sample the game of tennis or indeed for those who played previously and might like to return.  So please encourage anyone you might know who’d be interested.

Tuesday next 24th March is the first night and further nights are on Tues 31st  Mar, Tues 7th April and Tues 14th April.   Times: 7.15 to 8.30 pm.

A number of qualified coaches will be on hand to give guidelines.  Racquets and balls will be  supplied.  Just bring soft soled shoes.  All are welcome.

Don’t worry about standard.  Tennis is for all and there’s well structured system within the club which caters for all standards.
