The annual President’s Prize competition will take place from Wed next 31st Aug – Fri 2nd Sept. Confined to members, this is always a very popular event. The event is being sponsored by Tony Cahill Jewellers, Nenagh &Tullamore. It will be of mixed format, suitably graded. Entries by 6 pm on notice board by this Sat 27th Aug. See poster for details.
The Pepe’s Junior Tennis Club Championships last week at Nenagh LTC provided us with 4 days of excellent and enjoyable tennis. The tournament catered for players from U.16 to U.8, with special participative events the U.9’s and U.8’s. Being a domestic event and with naturally less entrants than an open week, the organisers combined some events and ran others as round robins.
At the presentation of prizes, Joan Sharkey, Junior Committee, thanked everyone whose contributions ensured a successful tournament, especially Robert and Mairead Gill of Pepe’s Restaurant, Nenagh who sponsored the tournament. Joan also complimented all the players for their honorable and sporting endeavors and thanked the tournament organisers (including referees Mary Ryan and Margaret Folan) and desk staff and the background support people which included some older juniors for their help throughout.
