The Draws and Schedule of play are now up online for the AIB Nenagh Senior Open
Draws & Schedule
It is the responsibility of all players to continually check the schedule of play to ensure they are aware of their match times etc.
More importantly – Good luck to all those competing in the Open it promises to be a great week – Bar Open – Food Served – ALL welcome to come down and watch a great weeks worth of tennis!!
Nenagh players were out in force at the recent Limerick Open at Catholic Institute last and were very much to the forefront, along with a number of Killaloe/Ballina players, on finals day.
Nenagh’s Helena Darcy and her cousin Lena Grace, a newcomer to the tournament scene, also featured strongly. Helena won the Gr 1 singles and Gr 1 mixed with David Hackett (defeating her sister Anne Marie Darcy and James Morris in this final).
Lena Grace won ladies Gr 6 singles (Nenagh’s Eimear Gleeson was r-up here) and doubles (with Richelle Treacy, also from the Nenagh club).
Indeed, Nenagh ladies were very prominent in the singles finals. In addition to Helena and Lena, Pauline Ryan won Gr 5, defeating fellow Nenagh lady Claire Ley in the final (Pauline and Claire were also r-up in the equivalent ladies doubles final).
Meanwhile Emma Mulqueen was runner-up at Gr 2 singles. She was also a r-up in the equivalent doubles with Noelle O’Connor.
The ladies Gr 4 doubles title was won by the ever reliable Catherine O’Meara and an equally consistent Abigail Ryan, while the solid pairing of Anne Murnane and Raimonds Zarinsh had to be at their best to defeat Mick Molloy and Gemma Flynn (also both Nenagh) in the final.
Meanwhile Padraig Hickey and Michael Ryan won the mens Gr 6 title. Newcomer Padraig’s game has certainly improved. He has obviously found himself a good coach.
Brian McGahey and Gary White were runners-up at Gr 2 doubles. Raimonds Zarinsh was also Gr 4 doubles r-up, with Michael Kennedy (Nenagh).

The recent Nenagh Credit Union Primary Schools North Tipp Tennis Championships took place at Nenagh LTC recently and were again a big success. The event, the brainchild of Eamon Dillon some years back, and organised annually at Nenagh LTC, was held over 2 days during June, and attracted a wide circle of schools and indeed this wide representation was also a feature reflected in the finals line-up with 10 schools involved.
Nenagh Credit Union officials, Alice Brislane and Margaret Grace, were welcomed to the club for the finals by Nenagh LTC president Margaret Folan who thanked the Credit Union for its generous sponsorship. Margaret also thanked all schools who participated.
Ballina NS, winners of the recent Munster Primary Schools Girls Cup, continued its successful run winning Girls Div I final against a strong Youghalarra team which was also successful last month, winning Munster Shield title.
Meanwhile, Ardcroney recorded a double success, winning Boys Div I and Girls Div II. Other winners were Templederry (Div 3 Girls), Carrig (Boys Div II) and Gortagarry (Boys Div III).
