Nenagh Team Runner-Up in League Final
The Nenagh ‘Rosewall’ team of Eamon Dillon, Gary White, Marie Murphy and Anne Murnane were narrowly defeated by an excellent Athlone team in the final of Division IV of the Midland Tennis League at Birr Wilmer Club on Wednesday night last.

Hard luck to the team but congratulations on a fine run over the summer which saw the always improving team qualify for the play offs and then progress through quarter and semi-final wins over at it happens 2 Birr teams in the play offs. Coincidently Athlone on the other side of the draw came through their play offs via wins over 2 other Nenagh teams.

Meanwhile, hard luck to Paul Royston, John Sheedy, Liadhan Hassett and Wendy Gallahue who lost out to Roscrea in the Division II semi final earlier this week. Roscrea will now play Loughrea on the final on Tuesday next.

Maloney Cup For Juniors

The Maloney Cup competition for juniors will take place at Nenagh LTC during October. The Maloney Cup was presented to the club for play among the juniors by the late Frances (Tutsie) Maloney, The Dapp Inn, Nenagh.

The competition this year will have a poignant resonance as sadly Tutsie passed away last Christmas. She was a great follower of many sports and held a strong affection for Nenagh LTC and it was this love which prompted her a number of years ago to present the cup to the club for the promotion of the game of tennis.

The Maloney Cup will run in conjuction the Anne Fitzpatrick Cup competition. This cup was presented by Anne Fitzpatrick also for play among the juniors. The competitions are available on alternate years to older and younger juniors.

This year the Maloney Cup will be played for by the younger members and the Anne Fitzpatrick Cup by the older juniors. Both events are open to all junior members. See notice board and website for update on when they’re on.
