RULES

  1. The schedule of matches will be posted in advance on the notice board.
  2. Teams to be composed of four players (2 men, 2 women).
  3. Each team must nominate a captain. It is the captain’s responsibility to inform players of time and day of match.
  4. €60 per team(Captain should collect Money from Each Member of team)

Sections/Scoring and Team Formations

 

THE COMPETITION IS DIVIDED INTO SECTIONS AND GROUPS.

TEAMS PLAY EACH OTHER IN EACH GROUP.

In Section 1, 2 and 3 Matches will consist of a ladies doubles, a mens doubles  and 2 mixed doubles. After the ladies and mens doubles have been played the two number one’s and the two number two’s in each team play together in mixed against a corresponding team using the same format.  This pairing must be held throughout the competition.

In Section 4 the number one’s and the number two’s will play with each other in the first round of matches. In the second round of matches the number one and two in the list going down will play together e.g. Kevin Folan and Deirdre McDonnell will play together and Maire Claire Murphy and Orla Hayes will play together. These pairings must be held together throughout the competition.

  1. The committee has decided the mixed doubles parings in each section. Players must conform to this throughout the event. In the event of a sub being used this will still hold.
  2. In round robin matches, first to 7 games. Tie Break at 6 all. 8 points are awarded for reaching 7 games. Teams win points for each game they win.
  3. Semi Finals and Finals: First to 9 games. Tie Break at 8 all. An extra point is awarded for reaching 9 games.
  4. In the event of a tie in Semi Final and Final Matches a Super Mixed Doubles will ensue. Players may choose the partnership on this occasion but may not repeat a mixed partnership pairing.
  5. Please ensure availability for Semi Finals and Finals 18th & 19th October.

 

QUALIFICATION

  1. IN SECTION 1 GROUPS 1 AND 2 THE TOP TWO IN EACH GROUP  QUALIFY FOR SEMI FINALS.
  2. IN SECTION 2 GROUPS 1 AND 2 THE TOP TWO IN EACH GROUP QUALIFY FOR SEMI FINALS.
  3. IN SECTION 3 GROUPS 1 AND 2 THE TOP TWO IN EACH GROUP QUALIFY FOR SEMI FINALS.
  4. IN SECTION 4 THE TOP FOUR TEAMS QUALIFY FOR SEMI FINALS.
  5. Round Robin standings will be decided on the number of points accumulated. In the event of a tie the head to head match will decide the result.
  6. In the event of a tie in Semi Final and Final Matches a Super Mixed Doubles will ensue. Players may choose the partnership on this occasion but may not repeat a mixed partnership pairing.
  7. SEMI FINALS FOR SECTIONS 1-3. WINNER OF GROUP WILL PLAY RUNNER UP IN OTHER GROUP. SEMI FINAL FOR SECTION 4. OPEN DRAW.

 

 

 

Subs

 

      SUBS OF SIMILAR STANDARD CAN ONLY BE USED BY A TEAM.

      PLEASE READ BELOW TO FAMILARIZE YOURSELF WITH RULES REGARDING SUBBING.

If a player is on a team and pulls out the competition then no deduction in points will apply. The team will find a replacement and play as normal.

 

Subs may be used in the event of a member of the team being unavailable.

It is the responsibility of the player being subbed to contact a member of the tournament committee(See Committee below)

Each sub used will deduct 2 points from the team.

In the event of the same sub being used again no deduction will take place.

Players in the same section but not in the same group can be used as a sub.

ALL SUBS MUST BE CLEARED BY TOURNAMENT COMMITTEE.

THE COMMITTEE HAS THE RIGHT TO ACCEPT/REFUSE A SUB PUT FORWARD BY A TEAM.

A SUB SHEET EXISTS IN THE CLUBHOUSE FOR TEAMS TO USE IF THEY HAVE A PROBLEM SOURCING ONE.

 

  1. The tournament committee makes the schedule for the tournament. If teams re-schedule matches without prior clearance from tournament committee then both teams will be deducted 2 points.
  2. If a player retires from a match (example injured or concedes) then the match is awarded to opposing team gaining all 16 points as player will have retired from both matches.
  3. The tournament committee reserves the right of adding to or altering the above conditions.
  4. CLOSING DATE FOR ENTRY MONDAY 1st OCT @ 6PM.
  5. PLAYERS PROVIDE BALLS FOR MATCHES.
